Canoe Instructor jobs may be full time or part time. Full time canoeing jobs can last anything from a few weeks to a full season. Season contracts may run from April to September/October. UK centres usually run courses from March/April to September/October. Activity holiday companies also employ Canoeing Instructors and River Leaders at centres in Europe. Freelance Canoeing Instructors may be offered part time or casual employment by UK centres that run courses for young people or adults.


To work as a Canoeing Instructors you will need to have a British Canoeing Awarding Body (BC) qualification. British Canoeing qualifications are modular in design and involve two elements:- a Generic Coaching Module and an Applied Coaching Module that is discipline specific. For example the Level 3 Open Canoe Applied Coach Module course covers the skills and techniques needed to lead and coach others on up to grade 2 water. The course explores teaching techniques appropriate to moderate whitewater and the fundamentals of grade 1 & 2 whitewater trips.
